Oyster season begins in Maizuru

The season for cultured oysters in Maizuru Bay begins--a seasonal highlight of winter in this area. Oysters in Maizuru are raised on 320 oyster rafts in Maizuru Bay. Cultured oysters from Maizuru Bay have firm bodies and a rich taste thanks to abundant plankton which absorb minerals flowing from the mountains around the bay.
