Kyoto Prefecture provides a system to certify house accommodation facilities that satisfy certain standards with the aim to promote the use of safe and secured house accommodation facilities with an environment easily used by anyone, including foreign tourists, while ensuring a harmonious coexistence with local communities, as well as to promote the tourism industry. We post the names of accommodation facilities that have been certified as "Kyoto Prefecture Certification Excellent House Accommodation Facilities" on this homepage. In addition, we appreciate that you use these facilities where the certification stickers are placed in their entrances.

About Certification Contents

"Kyoto Prefecture Certification Excellent House Accommodation Facilities” correspond to all items from 1 to 4 below.

  1. 1Facilities have taken all the following measures, which are prescribed as standards house accommodation facility owners should take, in Articles 4 and 5 of the corresponding regulation, and regulations about ensuring appropriate implementation of the Kyoto Prefecture Home Accommodation Business, as well as Articles 1 and 2 of the operation guideline related to said enforcement regulation.
    • Always cleaning the drinking and eating utensils, bedclothes, etc., used by guests, as well as sterilizing them periodically
    • Replacing bathrobes, sheets, bed covers, etc., with laundered ones for each guest
    • Performing inspection and maintenance of ventilation, daylighting, lighting, illumination, moisture prevention, and drainage equipment in registered houses
    • Always cleaning registered houses, and taking proper measures to get rid of any rats, hygiene pests, etc.
    • Regularly sterilizing bathrooms and toilets, as well as deodorizing and protecting against insects in toilets
    • Making a record of guests’ age on the guest list
    • Making a record of places of accommodation on the previous and following days on the guest list
  2. 2Facilities have taken all the following measures, which are prescribed as “obligations to make the utmost effort”, in Article 7 of the corresponding regulation, and Articles 3 to 6 of the regulation enforcement rules about ensuring appropriate implementation of the Kyoto Prefecture Home Accommodation Business.
    • Explaining to neighboring communities that the facility is used for the house accommodation business
    • Preparing a system enabling immediate response with countermeasures should accidents occur, and/or in other occasions of emergency
    • Confirming guests’ names, addresses, and occupations face-to-face, or using other equivalent methods
    • Periodically confirming guests’ usage situation
  3. 3Facility owners have bought liability insurance intended for facilities that run a house accommodation business
  4. 4While making efforts to ensure the safety and security of local residents and their guests, facilities have addressed one or more items among the following (a) to (c), which could result in the expansion of populations involved in interaction with their communities
    • House accommodation facility owners who have no delegating obligation to house accommodation administrative providers carry out good administrative operation by doing such delegating, etc.
    • Carrying out facility operation with careful attention to foreign tourists, the elderly, and/or persons with disabilities
    • Making efforts to achieve coexistence and co-prosperity with local communities
